‘Nobody waits for my art, so why shouldn't I have fun when I make something?’
Vague memories of people shape the stone sculptures Ary makes. Animals feature in his work too. He bases these on basic animal shapes and their characteristics. His work surprises, is joyous, especially when you discover human aspects in the animal sculptures. Hands with four fingers, feet instead of paws!
‘As a tiny tot at kindergarten I was constantly making drawings of Biblical stories. Like Abraham's tents in the desert which merged into the tent the telephone company had put up in our street to lay down the first telephone wires!’
